Travel towards Tabernash, North / Northwest on Highway 40 for almost four miles. There are two parts of this trail which connects Fraser and Winter Park. The paved portion parallels Highway 40 and begins at the Wendy's on Highway 40 in Fraser, and ends at Trademark condominiums in Old Town Winter Park. From there you can utilize streets to connect to the Winter Park Ski Resort. The unpaved portion of the trail begins at CR 8, at the northern end of Fraser and connects to a road which leads from Highway 40 to the Catholic Church, this road is also the entrance to Rendezvous subdivision. An easy access point for the unpaved portion of the trail is the parking lot at the Fraser Visitor Center. Interpretive signs and viewing scopes are located along the trail. It is on the ridge above the Fraser River, up the road behind Safeway. Meadow Ridge is the collective term used for the condominium community at the top of the ridge. Several nightly rentals are located there, notably, The Pines, Lookout Village, Indian Peaks, Silvercrest and Meadow Ridge itself. he Fraser-Winter Park Amtrak station is located in Fraser at the intersection of Railroad Avenue and Fraser Avenue. The station is not manned. There is an open platform. It is one block west of Highway 40. Turn (left if traveling North on Highway 40, right if traveling South on Highway 40) at the Crooked Creek Saloon onto Fraser Avenue and go one block. It is the name given Highway 34 as it passes through Rocky Mountain National Park. Quite scenic and at high altitude, the road is closed during winter. Call 970-627-3471 to ask if the road is open during spring and fall months. Typically, it opens Memorial Day and closes Labor Day, but weather conditions determine the exact dates of open and closed status.
Not to be mistaken for the national park itself, Estes Park is the town at the northeastern entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. In summer months, Highway 34 is open and takes you directly into Estes Park, travelling through Rocky Mountain National Park. Depending on traffic, the trip to Estes Park can take from two to three hours, especially if you stop at any of the lookout points in the national park along the way. In the winter, Highway 34, also known as Trail Ridge Road, is closed.

Sulphur Ranger District offices are on the west side of Highway 40 just south of Granby (approximately 14 1/2 miles from Fraser). The telephone number is 970-887-4100. Topographical maps may be purchased at the ranger office which is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Call for weekend hours in the summer.
Fishing ponds stocked and maintained by the Lions Club are located directly south of the Safeway grocery store in Fraser. There is no fee; children under 16 years can fish without a license, but those older must purchase a license. They are sold at Safeway and at Winter Park Fly Fisher, both on Highway 40 in Fraser. It varies, however, a recent report from Union Pacific, which owns this portion of the railroad, shows there are approximately six freight trains at night, five freight trains in the day and two Amtrak passenger trains daily, for an approximate total of 13 trains per day. Trains are required by law to sound their horn at grade crossings. The two Amtrak trains constitute the California Zephyr route. Train #5 is westbound from Chicago to Emeryville (San Francisco) and train #6 is eastbound from Emeryville (San Francisco) to Chicago. The remainder or the trains are mixed merchandise trains, some coal trains and the occasional track repair train. Often, in summer months, you may see a privately owned car attached to the end of one of the Amtrak trains - some are quite elaborate and remind us of the glory days of travel by train.
A Denver tradition for generations, the Ski Train was America's largest, scheduled passenger train. It carried passengers from Denver through the peaks of the Rockies for day trips to Winter Park - in summer for mountain biking, hiking and sightseeing; in winter for skiing and sightseeing. However, the Ski Train was sold to a Canadian concern. Its last run to the Winter Park Ski Resort was in 2009. Since 2016, Amtrak has partnered with Winter Park Ski Resort to run a ski train on select weekends during the months with the best snow. The ski train originates at Denver's Union Station, takes passengers directly to the siding at the Winter Park Ski Resort, turns around in Tabernash (just four miles north of Fraser) and waits at the siding in Fraser until the end of the day when it returns to the ski resort to pick up its passengers for the return trip to Denver. The public right-of-way (ROW) is owned by the Town of Fraser, includes the paved portion of roadway and the dirt shoulders on both sides and abuts the property lines of adjacent properties. ROW widths vary throughout town and can range from 20 feet for a public alley to as much as 80 feet for a main road.
In addition to the ROW width, in some cases there may be an additional snow storage easement overlaying the adjoining property which is typically 10 feet in width on one or both sides of the street.This easement allows the Town to utilize a portion of private property for snow storage.
