Following a County-wide Waste Diversion Study, a need and opportunity for a recycling and trash drop-off facility was identified for the Town of Fraser. We then received funding from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to fund the facility that went on to be named “The Drop.”
The Drop compliments the Town’s initiatives to sustainability and lowering greenhouse gases (GHGs). When products are made, distributed, and disposed of, harmful GHGs are released into the atmosphere. Pay-as-you-throw (PAYT) programs naturally encourage users to dispose of waste less and recycle more which can reduce GHGs significantly.
What is PAYT?
The Fraser Pay-As-You-Throw (PAYT) program reduces quantities of trash going to the landfill with a financial incentive to the consumer. The less trash you throw away – the more money you save! PAYT trash bags and single stream recycling (click the Acceptable Materials link for more info on what recycling and trash items are and are not accepted) can be disposed of at The Drop instead of paying for a traditional trash service. PAYT Trash bags are yellow 40 gallon bags with the Town of Fraser logo and a map conveniently printed right on the bag. Bags can be bought in packages of 5 or individually. PAYT Trash bags are not required for recycling. For more info call Fraser Town Hall at 970-726-5491.
