Following a County-wide Waste Diversion Study, a need and opportunity for a recycling and trash drop-off facility was identified for the Town of Fraser. We then received funding from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment to fund the facility that went on to be named “The Drop.”
The Drop compliments the Town’s initiatives to sustainability and lowering greenhouse gases (GHGs). When products are made, distributed, and disposed of, harmful GHGs are released into the atmosphere. Pay-as-you-throw (PAYT) programs naturally encourage users to dispose of waste less and recycle more which can reduce GHGs significantly.
This program will provide PAYT trash bags for purchase at your local retail stores and on site at The Drop during posted recycling hours. These trash bags will be a specific color, branded with the Town’s logo and a map of where the trash drop off facility is located for disposal. The bags will be available for purchase in 40 gallons bags for use in households for Fraser Valley residents, second home owners and travelers passing through. Profits made from the trash bag purchases will finance the facility’s ability to offer free single stream recycling.
PAYT bags will be available for purchase at participating retail stores and at The Drop during manned recycling drop off hours. The Drop is located on CR 72 about a quarter mile south of HWY 40 at 440 GCR 72, Fraser, CO 80442.
We are currently anticipating a July opening for The Drop. Stay tuned for updates on hours of operation for PAYT trash and recycling drop off, where you can purchase PAYT bags and an official opening date.
